2014 XC CrimeaParagliding — is the first competition in Ukraine, where will be used only one task type — «Open distance». This is the stage of the Ukrainian Cup in 2014 and has a FAI- 2 category.
Such kind of competition allows to compete not only experienced competitors, but also novice pilots. Because «Open distance» tasks does not consider flight time and speed, and this means that even slow paraglider have chances to set a record. You don’t have to reach turnpoints, that sometimes are pretty complicated, and that allow you to focus on the flight itself. We are not limit your flight neither at range or direction. With a good XC weather only geographic borders of the peninsula and restricted areas (information will be given on the briefing) could limit your flight. While performing such kind of tasks, pilots can land at any place, and this is why we cannot organize the retrieve, but it is also some advantages in this situation:
First of all, you don’t have to wait retrieve for hours, or, how it regularly happens, not to use service, that was paid. Now you can return to headquarters right after landing, and you don’t have to waist your time. You won’t have a troubles with a retrieve because of a large road network, covering the entire Crimea, and developed system of shuttle transport.
Secondly, the absence of official retrieve allow to make this competition available in the financial plan. Entry fee is only 10 EUR.
The organizers tried, as possible, to make the competition as «weekend competition», and provide 4 competition days, as at many other competitions. And you don’t have to take a vacation or compensatory holiday, because 1-4 May is official holidays at Ukraine.
Competition organisation – paragliding club «Crimea Paragliding» already successfully performed one of the most mass competition in Ukraine – «Crimea Paragliding CUP».
Place of competition is a “Soaring Mecca” of Ukraine — Klementyeva mountain. It called so not only because of it’s great history, rising up to early XX century, but also for it’s famous unique aerologic. For a present day this is the most popular place for either flight schools and experienced pilots.
Under good weather conditions other nearby launch sites can be used – Bor-kaya, Agarmysh, Ak-kaya, Sary-kaya and others.
